10 Years to Energy Independence

Consulting group Wood Mackenzie now predicts that the U.S. growing shale play output and increased energy efficiency will lead to energy independence by 2015.  The last time the U.S. exported more energy than it imported was in 1952. In the past seven years 3 million bopd has been added to U.S. production though tight oil and 27.5 Bcf/d from shale gas. During the same time oil demand is decreasing as the result of increased efficiency in the "transport sector". Lifting export bans would raise crude prices and stimulate production exhilarating the road to energy independence.
