Marathon Refinery in Canton, Ohio Focuses on Condensates

The 85 year old Marathon refinery in Canton, Ohio is retooled to reap the rewards of processing the Utica shales’ condensates. The condensates are naturally low in sulfur, an element that federal regulations wants removed from fuels. The condensates are coming from new wells in Utica play in southeastern Ohio and are very different from the oil that has come from old vertical wells in Ohio. The condensate contains low-octane gasoline, even before it is processed. Current plant capacity can refine 93,000 bbl of crude per day
