Bentek energy analyst (Platts), Sami Yahya reveals that production decline from the Eagle Ford in Texas and the Bakken in North Dakota was less than 1 % in May compared to April. Production from the Eagle Ford in May 2015 was "1.6 million barrels per day about 21% higher than May 2014." Average production from North Dakota's Bakken in May was 1.2 million b/d, or up 155,000 b/d from May 2014. Yahya noted that, "The steep decline in rig count and the discouraging oil barrel pricing environment has taken its toll on oil production." However, "the shortening of drill times in both of those key shales has helped sustain production levels."
