State of Alabama to Receive $20 Million Transocean Settlement

More than 5 years after the Deepwater Horizon event in April 2010, the state of Alabama has finally reached a settlement with Transocean to compensate Alabama for environmental and economic losses. Governor, Robert Bently said ,“The State of Alabama suffered tremendous environmental and economic losses because of the BP/Deepwater Horizon oil spill. This agreement with Transocean is another positive step forward as we continue to recover from the effects of such a significant environmental and economic disaster.” Alabama reached an agreement with BP earlier in 2015, for $1.3 for the Gulf of Mexico region, and $1 billion directly to the state.
