2016 Mastering the Subsurface Through Technology Innovation and Collaboration: Carbon Storage and Oil and Natural Gas Technologies Review Meeting

The Carbon Storage and Oil and Natural Gas Technologies Review Meeting features more than 100 Department of Energy (DOE) sponsored projects from the Carbon Storage portfolio, subsurface projects from the Oil and Natural Gas portfolio, and the Subsurface Technology and Engineering Research (SubTER) Initiative. Carbon Storage projects will span program Technology Areas included in the Advanced Storage R&D Technology Component (Geologic Storage and Simulation; Risk Assessment; and Monitoring, Verification, Accounting, and Assessment) and Storage Infrastructure Technology Component (Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership [RCSP] Initiative, Onshore and Offshore Characterization Field Projects, and Fit-For-Purpose projects). Oil and Natural Gas projects focus on topics such as wellbore integrity, hydraulic fracturing, and maximizing production. The SubTER effort is a new initiative focused on crosscutting subsurface research and development which addresses technical challenges that are faced by multiple energy sectors including hydrocarbon and geothermal energy production, carbon storage, and waste storage. This meeting will include 3 days of plenary sessions that will focus on program updates, relevant National and International topics, and the RCSP large-scale field projects.
